In this session with Segal Benz, you'll hear how Sandia National Labs, with close to 13,000 employees in Livermore and Albuquerque, delivers essential science and technology to support the nation’s most challenging security issues. It’s an innovative and collaborative environment and in 2020, as Sandia set out to reimagine its total rewards. The Human Resources team led with data to design new programs, while intentionally connecting employees’ deep commitment to Sandia’s mission with their own health, emotional, and financial well-being. Rob Nelson, Director of Human Resources, and Jennifer Schuster, SVP at Segal Benz, will discuss the journey and what they learned along the way.

Health Equity and Cancer Care Benefits

Genetech's benefits team wanted to ensure its employees and their family members had access to advanced science and personalized care when diagnosed with cancer. But not all of its employees had consistent and equal access to this level of cancer care. To address this, Genentech implemented initiatives to expand preventative cancer screening coverage for its employees. In this session you will hear how to:

  • Work with vendor partners to obtain data on cancer screenings and overall wellness visits
  • Review your benefits coverage policy as it relates to screening, diagnostics, palliative care, and Centers of Excellence
  • Ensure you provide the mental health support and time off needed for employees when they or a loved one are diagnosed with cancer

Creating holistic benefit programs for the maternity and family building experience

Maternity benefit programs have traditionally focused on the mother's health as it relates to the baby. During this session, you will understand what can get overlooked as to the mother's health before, during, and after pregnancy from the primary care perspective. Data shows that the health of the mother impacts the time to pregnancy and the health of the mother during pregnancy, especially when there are underlying health conditions.
